Amounts in old studies
Melanotan 2 dosage figures tell you what researchers gave, not what is safe.
You get amounts from small studies, but no safe human amount has been set. This page isn't a guide.
What these amounts do not tell you
This page repeats amounts from published Melanotan 2 studies, telling you what researchers gave to people and animals rather than what to take. No safe human amount has been set, and Melanotan 2 isn't approved for use in people.
Study amounts often appear as mg/kg. That means milligrams for each kilogram you weigh. Only tiny, early human studies tested such amounts, so they can't settle safety for you.
People also search for the drug's half-life. That tells how long it takes the amount in your body to fall by half. A proper human measure does not exist for Melanotan 2. Read these numbers as study history rather than personal directions.
What amounts the human studies used
Only two small, early studies give amounts for people, and a 1996 skin-color study included three healthy men. Researchers raised the amount beneath the skin from 0.01 to 0.025-0.03 milligrams for every kilogram the men weighed. Over two weeks, they gave it on alternate weekdays. The researchers stopped raising the amount when drowsiness appeared at 0.03 milligrams per kilogram. They didn't test daily use, but wrote that 0.025 milligrams for each kilogram a day might be studied next [1]. That untested idea can't guide your care.
A 1998 erection study used one amount of 0.025 milligrams per kilogram beneath the skin [2]. These figures tell you how the studies were run, but they don't show that any amount is safe for you. No larger or later human study of an amount has been published [3].

What amounts the animal studies used
Most Melanotan 2 amount studies used animals, and the amounts and methods varied. For hunger, researchers put 0.1 to 1 nanomoles into each side of one mouse brain area [25]. A nanomole is one billionth of a lab count for tiny bits of matter. That mouse amount isn't a guide for people.
A rat study looked at nerve repair. The rat's nerve healed only with the middle amount; the lower and higher amounts didn't help. More drug didn't bring a better result. Mouse or rat amounts can't be turned into human amounts because the animals, methods, and aims were different.
Why the Melanotan 2 half life remains unknown
Researchers haven't published a sound human Melanotan 2 half life. After one half-life, half of the drug remains in your body. Rat work found the drug left blood quickly after a vein shot. Work on a different tanning drug can't settle this question.
Skin may keep darkening after Melanotan 2 leaves your blood, and weeks may pass before that color fades. Figures posted online for people are guesses, not direct measures. No sound human study gives you a firm time.
What Melanotan 2 injections add to the risk
Most human studies used an under-the-skin shot [1][2]. Rat work also delivered the drug through a vein. Some mouse hunger work placed it in the brain [25]. Case reports mention unlicensed nose sprays too. Swallowing the drug works poorly because very little enters your blood.
Melanotan 2 injections bring a separate risk. Online vial tests found untrue labels, uneven drug amounts, and stray matter [23][24]. You can't know how much drug any one vial holds. A needle may also leave redness, swelling, itching, bruises, or lumps. Read about whole-body harms under side-effects and dangers.
